SUMMARY:PHP-WVL AI Coding Night: Claude vs Codex Refactoring Kata
DESCRIPTION:PHP-WVL\n🚀 AI Coding Night\nClaude vs Codex\nLive Refactori
 ng Kata\n\n📅 Wednesday\, August 5\n🕘 21:00 CET\n⏱ Duration: 2 Hour
 s\n\nBuild. Refactor. Learn. Together.\n\nForget AI presentations.\n\nJoin
PHP-WVL for this hands-on coding workshop where developers collaborate in
teams\, tackle a real refactoring challenge\, and learn from each other's
  ideas\, code\, and AI workflows.\n\nChoose your side:\n\n🤖 Team Claude
\n\nor\n\n⚡ Team Codex\n\nBoth teams receive exactly the same legacy cod
e and the same refactoring challenge.\n\nThe goal isn't to prove one AI is
better.\n\nThe goal is to discover different approaches\, improve your en
gineering skills\, and learn from both your own team and the other team.\n
 \nWorkshop Format\n👋 Introduction (15 Minutes)\nWelcome & Team Selectio
n\nIntroduction to the Refactoring Kata\nUnderstand the Legacy Code\nWorks
hop Rules\n🔄 Coding Iterations\n\nEach iteration follows the same forma
 t:\n\n💻 20 Minutes\n\nWork together in breakout rooms.\n\nRefactor the
code in small\, safe iterations using your AI coding assistant as your pai
 r programmer.\n\nCollaborate with your teammates\, discuss ideas\, and con
tinuously improve your solution.\n\n💬 5 Minutes\n\nEveryone comes back
together.\n\nEach team presents their progress.\n\nWe'll compare different
  approaches\, prompts\, refactoring strategies\, and engineering decisions
.\n\nThis is where everyone learns from each other.\n\nWe'll complete thre
e iterations during the evening.\n\nIf everyone is having fun and wants to
  continue\, we'll simply keep going with Iteration 4 and 5.\n\nThis Is a C
 ollaborative Workshop\n\nThis is not a competition.\n\nIt's a collaborativ
e engineering exercise where every participant contributes ideas and learn
 s from others.\n\nYou'll learn:\n\nDifferent refactoring techniques\nAI Pa
ir Programming\nBetter prompting for software development\nClean Code prac
tices\nDifferent engineering approaches\nHow other developers solve the sa
 me challenge\nThrough discussion\, feedback\, and collaboration\n\nThe com
parison after every iteration is just as valuable as the coding itself.\n\
nRequirements\n\nTo get the most out of this workshop\, you should:\n\n
💻 Be able to read and write code in PHP or JavaScript\n🤖 Have basic
experience using AI coding assistants\n⚙️ Have Claude Code or Codex in
stalled and ready to use\n🌿 Be familiar with basic Git/GitHub workflows
\n🧠 Enjoy solving coding challenges and refactoring existing code\n🤝
Be willing to collaborate\, share ideas\, and help others learn\n❤️ H
ave fun experimenting and improving together\nWhat to Bring\n💻 Your lap
top\n🛠️ Your favorite code editor\n🤖 Claude Code or Codex\n🌿 Gi
 tHub account\n🚀 Curiosity and a collaborative mindset\nLive on YouTube\
n\nThe workshop will be recorded and streamed live on @skillsforteams.\n\n
Highlights and key learnings will also be available afterwards on the YouT
ube channel\, so the community can continue learning from the different ap
proaches.\n\nAnd most importantly—have fun writing better software. 🚀
 \n\nMeet Your Host\nJohn Behrens\n\nAgile & QA Coach · AI Enablement\n\nI
've spent more than 25 years building software and helping teams improve t
 he way they develop it—as a developer\, QA engineer\, Scrum Master\, Agi
le Coach\, and trainer. Today my focus is on AI Enablement\, bringing prac
tical AI into everyday software engineering.\n\nWhy I'm Hosting This\n\nI'
m running this workshop for free because I genuinely love these kinds of c
oding exercises.\n\nIt reminds me of the old Software Craftsmanship meetup
s: developers coding together\, exchanging ideas\, and learning from each
other. This isn't another AI presentation—it's a real community workshop
\, just the AI way.\n\nIf you'd like to work with me professionally\, I'm
currently open to technical roles in Agile\, QA\, and AI Enablement.\n\nLi
