A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Calendaring Extensions WG of the IETF.

        Title : Event Publishing Extensions to iCalendar
        Author          : Michael Douglass
	Filename        : draft-ietf-calext-eventpub-extensions-04.txt
	Pages           : 30
	Date            : 2017-10-10

Abstract:
   This specification introduces a number of new iCalendar properties
   and components which are of particular use for event publishers and
   in social networking.

   This specification also defines a new STRUCTURED-DATA property for
   iCalendar [RFC5545] to allow for data that is directly pertinent to
   an event or task to be included with the calendar data.

The IETF datatracker status page for this draft is:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-calext-eventpub-extensions/

There are also htmlized versions available at:
https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-calext-eventpub-extensions-04

A diff from the previous version is available at:
https://www.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url2=draft-ietf-calext-eventpub-extensions-04

Please note that it may take a couple of minutes from the time of submission
until the htmlized version and diff are available at tools.ietf.org.

There are 2 issues to be resolved.

Resource type registry.

When this spec was started it was thought that such a registry would
appear as part of the vcard work. This hasn't happened. So either we
define one in this spec or find another one (haven't found one so far).

SOURCE property

Turns out this is already defined in RFC 7986. That version is more
restrictive than the one defined here. So either we have a new property
or redefine that in 7986 to allow its use in any component. Also this
spec allows VALUE=TEXT and the fmttype parameter. I've also just
realized the example is incorrect.

I have no strong opinion, but maybe redefining one and adding text that
explains why we do not reuse RFC 7986 makes it easier.

Turns out this is already defined in RFC 7986. That version is more restric=
tive than the one defined here. So either we have a new property or redefin=
e that in 7986 to allow its use in any component. Also this spec allows VAL=
UE=3DTEXT and the fmttype parameter. I&#39;ve also just realized the exampl=
e is incorrect.<div class=3D"HOEnZb"><div class=3D"h5"><br>

Dear draft / RFC authors and developers,

I would like to encourage co-authors and developers to register the known
implementations of their documents (draft or RFC). The following candidate
for that working group as well as for tzdist would be:

   - draft-ietf-calext-caldav-attachments
   <https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-calext-caldav-attachments/>
   - draft-ietf-calext-eventpub-extensions
   <https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-calext-eventpub-extensions/>
   - RFC 7529 *Non-Gregorian Recurrence Rules in the Internet Calendaring
   and Scheduling Core Object Specification (iCalendar)*
   <https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc7529/>
   - RFC 7953 *Calendar Availability*
   <https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc7953/>
   - RFC 7986 *New Properties for iCalendar*
   <https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc7986/>

I am also including the tzdist documents:

   - RFC 7808 *Time Zone Data Distribution Service*
   <https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc7808/>
   - RFC 7809 <https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc7809/>  *Calendaring
   Extensions to WebDAV (CalDAV): Time Zones by Reference*

The code stand initiative [1] aims at connecting the drafts published
protocols to implementations. It would be great that co-authors could
create a code request associated to their document then associate the
request with a known implementation.

In order to register your code request please:

   - click on [2],
   - login with your datatracker login,
   - click on "Coderequest"
   - click on "Create a Code Request" at the bottom of the list of
   requests.

Once you request has been created, you can click on "associate my project"
icon to fill the implementations.

If you are encountering any issues, please let us know.

Yours,
Daniel

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Calendaring Extensions WG of the IETF.

        Title : Event Publishing Extensions to iCalendar
        Author          : Michael Douglass
	Filename        : draft-ietf-calext-eventpub-extensions-05.txt
	Pages           : 31
	Date            : 2017-10-11

After some brief discussion (and following Daniel's suggestion) I've
moved SOURCE into a new section and noted it's a redefinition.

I've added a resource types registry and populated it with a small
number of values.

I split the registry section into 2 - additions to iCalendar and new tables.

I also discovered a few typos along the way.
